Who is Emma Taylor?
I’m a freelance web designer living the dream in Cyprus (originally from the UK). Specialising in user interface web design with a love for clean, simple but well thought out designs, the interwebs, tea, doodling, positive thinking, anything apple & my friends and family.
Do you have a personal Brand?
I don’t really have a personal brand as such but i suppose Twiggle Graphics is me!
How do you find design inspiration and colours for a new project?
I do quite a bit of user analysis and research before i begin work in photoshop capturing the requirements of the audience, market and current design trends. From there i’m able to sketch out a few ideas and start work on the wireframes playing around with the basic style and colour palettes. Flickr, Dribbble, design blogs, css galleries and ColorLovers are great sources of inspiration.
What does your typical day look like?
I usually wake up around 7.30am, enjoy a quick stretch, grab my iPhone and check my email, twitter and facebook accounts before i get out of bed, a terrible habit but hard to stop! I’m very much a morning person and find i get quite a bit of admin work done in between pottering around the house, attending to the pets, having breakfast and organising my day ahead. I normally start client work around 9.30am til around 2pm then take a little time out to relax away from the desk ready return and enjoy a productive afternoon til around 7pm.
What do you do in your free time?
Since working from home it’s sometimes hard to relax and switch off, however i try my best to take it easy, enjoying a good film and a long walk in the evening and try to resist temptation from going into my office…although my husband’s quick to point out i do pinch his laptop a lot lately! (in my defense…i love what i do and love reading design blogs lol). Other than that i love spending time with friends and family, going for walks, swimming and now that summer’s here trips to the beach are a must!

Mac OS X – love my iMac!!

Name something that has inspired you recently?
Interior design, fashion and food blogs have been a huge inspiration recently, trying new things away from the computer and taking note of all the little things around me; textures, patterns, old and new.
What do you prefer (and why)? Freelance work or full time employment?
Freelance work by far!!! It’s definitely not as easy as i once believed but i love the challenges that come with it, there’s no better feeling than working for yourself, setting your own work hours, enjoying what you love most and living life how you want to!!
What are your personnel projects and goals for 2010?
Focus on UI web and iPhone app designs, setup a few personal projects, redesign my website and enjoy whatever good comes my way!
